How the private self-hypnosis sessions are structured

Most of the sessions take one hour, which include about 50 minutes of time spent with the client and about 10 minutes for the hypnotherapist to write notes and prepare records for the next session.

The self-hypnosis tutoring session is different from the general hypnotherapy session. The counselling, teaching and tutoring are embedded into practical hypnosis.  The client enters the hypnotic trance many times, to learn with the guidance of the hypnotherapist and to practice the new techniques.

The first session usually starts with a longer counselling period, or the free initial 30 minutes consultation.

Why do I need to do exercises at home?

At each session the client is given some homework to do. It is very important to follow these exercises as they are an important part of the learning self-hypnosis. They save the client money (less sessions will be needed) and they make success of the self-hypnosis permanent. They also enable the client to deal with any future issues by themselves, without any help (even more money saved).

How many sessions or which workshop will you need

This depends on how much you want to learn. If you want want to learn self-hypnosis for relaxation and some simple, specific skills, a one day basic workshop or two private hypnotherapy sessions would be enough. If you want to learn advanced techniques, you will need at least the advanced self-hypnosis workshop, which combines one private session, a week of practice at home and then one day workshop. The contents of each workshop can be taught in about four private sessions

Most clients usually choose to deal with their most difficult issues first, before they learn self-hypnosis. For example, if you suffer from panic attacks and severe anxiety, it is better to solve the panic attacks first by letting the hypnotherapist help you to overcome the fears or clear  trauma from the past. Then you may want to learn self-hypnosis to build confidence and self-esteem. To learn more about hypnotherapy please visit my hypnotherapy website www.myhypnotherapy.com.au

The Evening Advanced Self-Hypnosis Course teaches the most advanced techniques and is offered only to the clients who have had some hypnotherapy sessions and are fluent in using basic self-hypnosis.

The fees and payment methods

1 hour session $160 inc GST
1.5 hour session $220 inc GST

The payment is required at the end of each session.
You can pay by cash, EFTPOS (City only) or credit card (Visa or Master).

Is the self-hypnosis covered by health insurance

Some health insurance providers cover hypnotherapy and at the moment there are over 25 of them. Please check with your health insurance provider. Hypnotherapy is becoming accepted by medical professionals, so more health providers are prepared to extend their cover. Teaching self-hypnosis is a form of hypnotherapy, so most insurers will cover private sessions for self-hypnosis.

What is in the first free consultation

The first free consultation is the time when you can discuss your issues and goals with the hypnotherapist, ask the questions you need to ask about hypnotherapy or the self-hypnosis tutoring process, about the hypnosis, how many session you can expect. The duration of the first consultation is usually about half an hour.

It is beneficial to book the free consultation and the first one-hour session together, in one block. This way most of the counselling will be done during the first 30 minutes, so more time during the first session will be spent on hypnotherapy.

The initial consultation is completely obligation free. You do not need to book for the next session if for whatever reason you decide that hypnotherapy is not for you. Even if you booked the free consultation and the first session together, there are no obligations for you to stay.

Our cancellation policy

bulletIf you have to cancel a session, make sure that you do it at least 24 hours in advance. This way we will be able to reschedule the session and we will not have to charge you.
bulletIf you cancel the session within less then the 24 hours or you do not come to the session, you will be charged a full payment.
bulletIf the therapist need to reschedule your session within 24 hours, the rescheduled session will be free.

What if you come late for the session

If you come late, the session will be shorter and you will be charged the full fee. We are usually fully booked - and it means that we must keep up with the schedule. This way we do not keep our clients waiting.

What is the difference between a hypnosis CD and a personal session with a hypnotherapist?

There are many hypnosis CDs, some of them just teach how to relax, and some claim an instant fix in many areas, including life lasting phobias and past life regression. I would not object to relaxing and general wellbeing hypnosis CDs. They may be very beneficial and if you enjoy them, keep enjoying.  If listening to them becomes a chore and is boring, perhaps you would rather listen to some nice music, because you will be able to relax better when you enjoy what you hear.

Other hypnosis CDs may be beneficial, but they may also be harmful. People are different. We all have different bodies; our minds and souls differ even more. I see many clients for the same issue, but I never have two the same cases. Take a simple phobia like a fear of flying. The reason for the fear could be a turbulent flight as a teenager, it could be your mum having a bad cold and being too tired to take care of you when you were a baby flying for family holidays, or it could be a fear of heights, or a fear of death, and you are too scared to express it. As many reasons as clients. The same is with the solution, every client is using his/her own resources to overcome the fear. Sometimes the words on that  “suits all” CD may match your situation, and if they are good, they will let you find your own solution. More often your issue will be more personal than that generalized problem for which the CD is made, so there will be no benefit and no harm. However, sometimes the CD will access the deep emotions, will revoke some traumas and will leave you in a very unstable situation, very upset.

This is different when you are under the care of a professional clinical hypnotherapist.

bullet First during the counselling, the specific therapy, suitable for your issue and your actual condition is set for you. And counselling also helps you to see your problems in different a light, as it is difficult to get the right perspective when you are depressed, anxious, in trauma or crisis, or in the power of a destructive habit.
bullet Secondly, the hypnosis part of therapy is interactive; the constant feedback from you is used to adjust the therapy to the current situation.
bullet And most important, when you need to deal with difficult emotions, you have all the professional support and help you need, so you can move through them, leave them behind you or learn how to deal with them.

My strong recommendation is that when the problem affects you on a high level and it causes strong personal distress, you should always seek professional help of well trained clinical hypnotherapist.
